A section of the road adjacent to the Rameshwarpur canal, under the jurisdiction of Thakurpukur Maheshtala block, has incurred severe damage, leading to complaints from local residents about the lack of lighting.
The deteriorated road conditions have resulted in frequent road accidents, with the most recent incident claiming the life of a young man named Rahul Sardar. While returning home after a picnic, Sardar fell into a pit along the broken road with his bike. Despite being initially taken to a local hospital, he was later shifted to SSKM Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. In response to this tragedy, the local residents of Rameshwarpur staged a protest today, blocking the road with tied bamboos to highlight the hazardous conditions.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police from Kalitala Ashuti police station promptly arrived at the scene. However, the situation escalated as locals, including panchayat members, gathered to express their grievances and protest the unsafe road conditions.
